COTTAGE CHARM

Within a sprawling valley property is a private storybook retreat, hidden from view.

The renovation project transformed a sparse site into a charming landscape with welcoming common spaces as well as secluded nooks and secret gardens.

White picket fences and a vine-covered archway at the front of the property lead to an expansive open space designed for family play and multi-generational parties. Outdoor entertaining can continue well into the evening, illuminated by firefly lanterns and the firepit ensconced in a curving seatwall.

Inspired by our client’s desire for fairytale surroundings, our planting design showcases roses, blooms in white and pale indigo shades, herbs and evergreen plants. Gardens hidden from the main entertaining area behind borders of mixed hedges and aromatic lavender feature rough stone paths and clusters of hydrangea. At the end of the paver path, a wood shingle cottage sheltered under the pines offers a secluded hideaway.
