REGAL REDWOODS
DTLA worked with the clients to inject vibrant color into the landscape and create outdoor spaces for family gatherings. Driving the design was a grove of redwoods located on the property which informed both the plant selection and hardscape.
Red and green trees complement the grove, while the luscious understory brings delight. Potted perennials provide ephemeral bursts of color throughout the landscape. In sunnier areas, raised beds teem with vegetables, herbs and small blooms. The surrounding garden is filled with our client’s favorite roses and cutting perennials. A stepping stone path lined by delicate grasses and blossoming groundcover leads to a custom gazebo and stone fountain.
We worked closely with stone masons to design and install charming, functional hardscape that traversed the grounds. Elegantly stacked retaining walls of ledge stone and moss rock open up new terraced areas. Rough stone steps wind away from home to a path under the redwoods, where an iron bench for two offers sun-dappled comfort.
