Andalusian Retreat

We were honored to be asked to transform the rear yard of a Californian Mediterranean home into a stylish and lush oasis for an active family and their beloved dog.

The project features an upper dining terrace, pool with inset spa and a pavilion that can double as either a parking area or lounge space. Our design embraces the family’s need for seamless indoor/outdoor living in a relatively small space while finding creative solutions for the city’s rigorous parking requirements.

Beautiful decorative tile work is featured throughout, most notably in the pool and the arch on the face of the stairway to the dining terrace.

Copper scuppers in the pool lend a soothing visual and auditory element to the space, while a rear wall of stone provides a textural backdrop to the pavilion with a seamed metal roof, wood accents and a chandelier for a touch of elegance.

The loungers and umbrellas continue the blue colorway throughout the pool area while the selected dog-friendly planting transitions seamlessly between flowering perennials and low water-wise pops of color.
